The Holy Trinity Chancel Choir celebrates the Baptism of our Lord this Sunday at the 10:30 Service with a unique and varied program. We begin with Anton Bruckner’s setting of the Latin antiphon, “Asperges me” - the sprinkling of water. At the Offering, we present Sheldon Curry’s arrangement of the Spiritual, “Down to the River to Pray,” written in folk style for the George Clooney 2000 Motion Picture, “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?” Shannon Levine accompanies on cello, while a quartet of soloists, led by Carolyn L W Lansom begin the piece. At Communion, we sing a improvisatory-like setting of “Vidi aquam” by NYC based composer David Hurd, set for choir, handbells, and organ, followed by Moses Hogan’s driving and rhythmic setting of the Spiritual, “Wade In the Water” with Holly Holdaway laying out the solo. Hope you will join us. There is a place for you here!
Looking forward to celebrating Christmas Eve with Pr. Lee Miller II, Pr. A wonderful turnout for our 2nd Annual Evening of Nine Lessons and Carols Sunday evening, Dec. 2nd! Bravo to Claudia Brown and the University at Buffalo choirs for their artistry and musicianship. Truly, there are great things happening at UB under Ms. Brown’s direction! Many thanks also to our Holy Trinity readers, Jenny Carden, Jennifer Ray Yap, Doreen Grieble, Uli MacDonald, Sue Spindler, and Kurt Kurt K Kaufmann, as well as Mary Kaufmann for assembling a warm, welcoming usher team. A special, personal moment for me to have the opening verse of “Once in Royal David’s City” sung by my former Amherst HS Soprano Cassidy Klaybor.
